1 Million Cups (1MC) is a simple platform that engages entrepreneurs in communities around the world. Each week, the 1MC program offers local entrepreneurs an opportunity to present their startups to a diverse audience of mentors, advisors, and peers. Presenters in the boulder group prepare a 6-8 minute educational presentation and engage in 40 minutes of feedback and questioning after they present. Entrepreneurs gain insight into possible ways they can improve their businesses and connect with a peer community that cares about their progress, and walk away feeling like they have advanced their business. The audience also learns a great deal from the presentations. Whether this is through passively listening or deeply engaging with the entrepreneurs, there is much to learn every week from these dynamic and diverse communities. The program takes place every Wednesday morning from 9:00-10:00am in locations all around the country.

This week's presenting company, Atomos http://atomosnuclear.com/ is designing and space-rating nuclear fission reactors for long-duration and highly-demanding space applications. The first will be providing space tugs for precision orbital insertion of spacecraft as well as providing energy solutions for deep space applications. Our spacecraft (also called "space tugs"), will be built to move and fix other spacecraft and will first target the Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) market.

NASA states that nuclear power and propulsion is absolutely necessary for deep space exploration, and for safe exploration of Mars by humans. The tech that NASA is developing, however, is expensive and creates nuclear proliferation concerns. Atomos is providing an affordable, safe, and secure alternative.

In our presentation, it is difficult to convey all of the benefits/impacts in a short time period, while simultaneously describing our first product. We have a strong beachhead, but this is only part of Atomos' value proposition.

What we hear from investors: Investing in your company is a very long step in time and capital. What incentives do I have as an early investor? Currently Atomos is raising seed funding for first 12 months of operation to complete the technical team and secure 2 multi-million dollar plus customer contracts/LOIs.
